The apartment is at 5 min walking distance from the Central and Vesterport station, and 5 min to the new metro line that goes all around the centre. The famous Lakes are 2 min away where you can take a stroll and look at the swans, the Danish national animal. There are plenty of cafés and restaurants nearby - both on Gammel Kongevej and Vesterbrogade. The city centre is only 10 min away and so is the Tivoli garden/amusement park. In 1577 it became forbidden to slaughter animals in the city center due to the fear of diseases spreading and due to the bad smells. The butchers therefore moved in 1671 outside of Vesteport, where they twice a week had a horse and cattle market. The market was meant to control that charges were paid for the animals that were slaughtered and brought into town.
